The purpose of the Application Engineer will be to lead the Savoury Application Pilot Plant and develop, optimize and document Savoury food product manufacturing processes at lab and pilot scale with the aim to test and anticipate flavouring solutions performance under the same processes constraints as in the food industry.
The work will be done in close collaboration with the Technical Development Chef in Vouvry and Application Technologists in EMEA to develop new concept recipes and food products, improve existing products and deliver to customer project briefs, from kitchen recipes / golden standards inspirations to pilot-plant trials.
The job holder will be a member of the Savoury Category Application Team and report to the Head of Application Savoury EMEA, based in Le Bar-sur-Loup in France. The team is responsible for developing new savoury food products based on trends and new ingredients to support and initiate new flavour developments for the EMEA region. The Category Application team is accountable as well for delivering robust application recipes to all affiliates within the region.

Main Tasks/Responsibilities
Lead the development and engineering of processes used for Savoury food products manufacturing:
• Lead the Savoury Application Pilot Plant in Vouvry, covering food product processes like extruded products (wet and dry) but also pasta, sauces, processed cheese etc.
• Commission the newly acquired food extruder pilot equipment and lead wet and dry extrusion trials
• Lead activities related to the development and optimization of savoury food products processes to develop new concepts together with the Technical Development Chef and promote MANE flavouring solutions
• Lead investment proposals for the Savoury Application Pilot Plant in agreement with the Savoury Head of Application
• Monitor technological developments in the area of savoury food products and processes
• Establish experimental protocols considering food manufacturing processes constraints (equipment, etc.)
• Develop the network with Food Technology Halls and Engineering schools within the EMEA region, including setting-up and leading studies
Partner with the R&D and commercial teams:
• Plan and develop project proposals to support customers strategic visions
• Support R&D strategic projects from a food processing engineer perspective, by defining and executing appropriate lab and pilot trials
• Support the sales team with customer presentation and clear communication on Savoury application technical insights
• Be the internal expert on Food product Manufacturing within EMEA and develop the internal knowledge within the Savoury community

Profil du candidat recherché

Qualifications & experience

• Degree level in food science/technology
• 3-5 years' experience in food product manufacturing, preferably in the culinary area
• Knowledge and experience in extrusion is preferred
• Knowledge in food ingredients, processes and nutrition
• Fluency in English is a must, French an advantage
